I fidget photographically to avoid writing. Most of my thoughts are easily outclassed by visual information, even by plain scenes of haphazard and untenable connection. I started taking pictures as a cure for those long unproductive stares out the window when trying to write, when physically turning the desk away from the window didn't work. I was excited that these lidless stares could be documented and filed away for later use- as if the proof of wasted time could somehow distract from its actual loss. It's a poor stand-in for productivity but it does wear similar shoes.
